3" HOYA ROTUNDIFLORA
Botanical Name: Hoya rotundiflora
Common Name: wax plant
Family: Apocynaceae
Native to: Myanmar
Available in a 3" nursery pot if purchased on its own. Visit our Pots Page to view and purchase pot options.
*This plant is not considered toxic. However, Hoyas have sap that may trigger a reaction with folks that have latex allergies.
Light
Thrives in bright indirect light. Not suited for intense, direct sun as leaves will burn. Gentle direct morning sun is tolerated and can give the leaves a redish hue.
Water
Water when substrate is dry. This Hoya is in a coconut husk mix that is very well-draining and dries quicker than typical houseplant potting soil. Look for signs of wrinkling or wilting.
Tips
- Hoyas will produce clusters of star-shaped flowers. Don't cut the flower stem once the flowers are spent. Leave them as this is where the plant will flower from in the future! Do not attempt to move your hoya once in bloom, they are sensitive to change during this time and might drop the flowers.
- Fertilize once a month during the spring and summer or with every watering using a diluted liquid fertilizer. Dilute based on frequency and the instructions of the fertilizer being used. Orchid fertilizer can also be used for Hoyas.
Toxicity
This plant is not considered toxic to pets or people but may cause a reaction in folks who have a latex allergy.
